The Fairmont Dallas has just announced their Artist in Residence of 2013 - graffiti artist DOSE! Until March DOSE will be working in an on-site art studio and living at the hotel full-time in return for a custom piece for the hotel’s permanent collection. Born in Los Angeles, DOSE grew up surrounded by colorful public art and became fascinated by the urban art of his city. After moving to Phoenix as a young boy, he spent the next 20 years searching out abandoned buildings to serve as a canvas. Entirely self-taught, DOSE’s graffiti gradually evolved to encompass sociopolitical themes including corporate corruption, racism and greed. Cultural and religious icons figure prominently in many of his bold pieces.
Throughout his tenure as Artist-in-Residence, DOSE will be working in the glass-front art studio located on the “O” level of the hotel. Hotel guests and members of the public are encouraged to visit the studio to interact with the artist. Studio hours will be Monday - Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
