‘La petite invite #’: the unique festival which invites… festivals.
The essence of ‘La Petite invite #’ is to connect the sharpest musical events from France and Europe, by inviting them to Toulouse. After “les femmes s’en mêlent” and “Nuits sonores”, ‘La Petite invites #’ Worldwide Festival, was created by the DJ, collector, producer and BBC star Gilles Peterson.
A typical, innovating, curious, ‘La Petite invite #’evolves over five days and four nights in five different central locations all over the city centre.
In 2011, ‘La Petite invite’ welcomed 9200 visitors and 30 artists. The artists appearing in the past four years included: Caribou, Chilly Gonzales, Carte Blanche, Joy Orbison, Silver Apples, Micachu & The Shapes, Coco Rosie, Hudson Mohawke, The Shoes, Erol Alkan, Danger, Feadz, Dusty Kid…
The Worldwide Festival is based on one simple idea: to create a different festival, offering a unique artistic selection in stunning environments happening in different cities around the world: Sète, Leyzin and Singapore.
Gilles Peterson, music lover, record collector, broadcaster, DJ, record producer, creator and owner of several record labels like Acid Jazz, Talkin Loud & Brownswood and an opinion leader for the last 20 years, is the artistic director.
The festival mixes hip-hop, new UK electronic sounds and international DJ’s. The event has already welcomed artists such as Flying Lotus, Julio Bashmore, Nicolas Jaar, Diplo and Jamie XX.
In Toulouse, La Petite invites # Worldwide Festival will take place in four emblematic venues: the Bikini (for two nights), Connection Café, Lieu-Commun art gallery and Halle in Grains.
