Every now and again, I am amazed and moved by what I used to call in the past, a “happening”. The Poppies at the Tower of London was one such occasion and such is the case for the commemoration of the Battle of the Somme with hundreds of young men in WWI uniforms appearing in public throughout the UK, handing out cards remembering the fallen. A beautifully crafted tribute that really puts life in perspective. #WeAreHere.
No doubt in the days to come, we will see who was behind this striking and vibrant re-enactment but for now, let’s just look at their social wall as we remember and thank those who died for us.
Update: The tribute was orchestrated by Project Octagon, which worked with the National Theatre to recruit hundreds of men aged between 16 and 40 for the secret performances across the UK.
