#minimagellan takes off – How to celebrate a 20th anniversary? That was the conundrum facing us at Magellan last year. What could we do that was us? What epitomised our attention to detail, our love of a story and our sense of fun?
In the end, it was simple. I reached back into my art and design background – and it came back to me in a flash – let’s look at the world of the miniature.
Since a child, I’ve loved stamps (miniature works of art to me), toy gardens (am a big Britains Floral Garden collector), Elizabethan portraiture (think Nicholas Hilliard) and dolls houses (recently visited Queen Mary’s when working with a client in Windsor) so it might come as no surprise that the light bulb moment led me on a path to this – recreating the everyday life of Magellan in 1:12 miniatures. There are some aspects which are difficult to recreate of course, some topics led by what’s available in the miniature market, but in the main, they have a connection to us and, well, it’s just a bit of fun at the end of the day.
Through this process, I’ve discovered a world of incredible miniature sculptors, producing unique and wonderful recreations of furnishings and lifestyle products. They are so talented, so creative, so unique that we will be featuring a few of our favourites in future blog posts.
So we hope you enjoy our #minimagellan #everydaylifeatmagellan #magellan20 project, unveiled weekly on our Instagram feed https://www.instagram.com/magellanpr/. A weekly roundup will appear on this blog in case you miss a #minimoment!
