Favoured by students and locals alike, the Drummond specialises in substantial food and beverages at an affordable price. Located on the outskirts of Guildford city centre, The Drummond is a recently ‘revamped’ food and drink establishment that offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere as well as friendly, enthusiastic bar staff. The quaint décor and eclectic furniture reiterate the bohemian vibes the eatery strives to convey.
As part of the renovation process (and as regulars) we were offered a two-for-one deal on all menu items, meaning you and a friend can enjoy a stress-free lunch at a discount price. On perusing the menu, it is fair to say there is an extensive choice of food, for all palates and occasions, ranging from ‘soup of the day’ to start to 21- day aged steak for main. Other culinary delights include Cotswold Lamb and Smoked Trout.
Whilst visiting the Drummond, bacon and brie baguettes and salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were enthusiastically enjoyed although the dreary weather ensured my friend and I ate inside. The whole lunch for two (including the offer) came to the reasonable price of GPB12 including drinks. On brighter days, food and drinks may be enjoyed outside; both in the beer garden and at the front, enjoying a view of Guildford Cricket Club. The dog friendliness of the Drummond is another huge advantage and means your beloved companion can accompany on warm, summer days. The waiting staff normally put out dog bowls of water too when they spot a canine guest.
Not only does the Drummond offer appetizing food, for all tastes and preferences and a place to relax and wind down; it plays to hosts to a variety of entertainment events and live ‘gigs’, perfect for summer evenings.
