No visit to Hastings in East Sussex would be complete without a tray of fish and chips, that gourmet staple beloved of us British.
Given Hastings is home to the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, it would be churlish to choose anything else to be honest. We went to one of the hole in the wall shops (the one with a queue is always a good sign) and our fish was cooked to order and fragrantly delicious. As we ate on the seafront, we of course, were accompanied by very friendly seagulls, watching our every move and kindly finishing up the leftovers. So kind.
