With a ceremonial farewell from no less a figure than François Hollande, the Président of France, the sounds of a canon salute and a firework display, the incomparable tall ship, Hermione, has left French waters en route to America. Replicating the departure of Lafayette’s trip to America, supporting the settlers in their war with the British, Hermione is now a marine ambassador for the entire Poitou-Charentes region. If you are Stateside, you may well catch sight of her when she reaches landfall and this is where she is planning to be.
