Santa Monica, Calif – On Saturday,28th September 2013, Glow, the first all-night art event in the United States, will transform the beach in Santa Monica into an interactive art haven. Building on the success of Glow’s first two editions, it is expected, once again, to attract between 100,000 and 200,000 local, national and international visitors to Santa Monica Beach during the course of one night, making it among the largest public art events in the U.S. Whilst museums and galleries sleep, Glow comes alive to engage artists in the production of new artworks, specially commissioned for the event and designed for night-time enjoyment. The event endeavours to break through the public’s pre-conceived notion of art and encourage interaction, contemplation and energetic participation. Dozens of artists from Los Angeles and around the world will provide unique works displayed in unexpected contexts, using the natural and man-made environments, on Santa Monica’s famous white sandy beach. Glow 2013 will certainly add to the city’s already thriving arts scene. With over 90 art galleries and museums, not to mention street performers, theatres, public art and sculpture and architectural landmarks, Santa Monica provides an unforgettable visitor experience that blends together the beach and art all in one.
