At the time of visiting Le Bistrot Saveur in the town of Castres in Midi-Pyrénées’ Tarn Department this summer, Chef Simon Scott was the only English chef in France to have been awarded a Michelin star (given in 2009) and I believe that is still the case.
It’s quite easy to see why as the cuisine is exquisite – not only in terms of taste but in it’s presentation. It’s probably what you might expect from a chef of Simon’s pedigree with time served at The Savoy, The Ritz London and with Jean-Claude Aubertin. With a fine-tuned skill set, married with the richness and variety of the regional products available in the area, Simon’s inner genius was unleashed on the French populace!
Even the place mats have been custom designed for Simon from a local artist.
If you have time to spare and are in the Castres area, make a booking at the restaurant where in all likelihood, you will be warmly greeted by Simon’s French wife, Marie-Hélène – you won’t regret it.
