Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine marries a historic and treasured Spanish cultural heritage site with a contemporary hotel that is among the most exclusive in Spain – creating an incomparable wedding destination.
The magical 900-year-old setting – a legendary 12th century abbey with an award-winning winery that was sensitively and imaginatively restored – takes the breath away of the bride and groom and their guests. The modern, 5-Star hotel delivers the highest level of personalisation and luxury. This mélange of historic grandeur and today’s most savvy hospitality has made LeDomaine one of the most desired and popular locations in Spain for a high-end dream wedding.
For ceremonies, receptions and dinners, there are both grand and intimate indoor venues as well as lush outdoor locations back dropped by historic buildings. The Baroque-Romanesque Iglesia, or Church, arguably the most beautiful building of the old abbey, is a high-ceiling, stone structure with dramatic vaulted arches that is a spectacular setting for the wedding ceremony, or the reception or dinner.
The Refectorio, the original dining hall of the monks with a vaulted Gothic ceiling and thick stone walls, today is a majestic location for a banquet anchored by a 17th-century fresco of The Last Supper. Among the other specialty venues for events are the outdoor courtyard of the Cloisters, the Hospedería Garden and the Sala Capitular Lounge and Bar. The estate’s own Abadía Retuerta Winery is an evocative spot for wine tastings and receptions. Couples who wish to tie the knot in the warm Spanish sun may choose from a variety of lawns and gardens amid the medieval structures.
Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine, included in the prestigious Relais Châteaux guide, has built its reputation as one of Spain’s most sophisticated and upscale lodgings by offering the most personalised service and guest experiences. The hotel’s highly experienced wedding planners work intimately with the bride and groom to plan and tailor every aspect of their special day down to the tiniest detail. The full range of amenities and services is available, from exquisite floral arrangements to a dance floor with the music of your choice.
The couple plans their menus with a culinary team, led by Executive Chef Pablo Montero, which has made LeDomaine a noted Spanish gastronomic destination. Less than three years after opening, LeDomaine received its first Michelin Star in 2014. Chef Montero and his staff create bespoke gourmet wedding menus that are innovative and seasonal using the freshest of local ingredients. And when the wedding party arrives at LeDomaine, they are pampered like nowhere else in Spain, as LeDomaine is the country’s only hotel providing full butler service.
To ensure ultimate personalisation, and make each wedding the most tailored and private affair possible, the entire hotel must be booked for the event – so LeDomaine becomes the personal estate of the bride and groom and their guests. The maximum number of guests for a wedding at LeDomaine is 180.
With the completion of eight additional guest rooms in summer 2015, LeDomaine will have 30 luxurious and spacious guest accommodations including three suites and 27 double rooms, with views of the vineyards and the estate grounds. The bride and groom stay in the magnificent Bridal Suite on their wedding night. Also coming in Summer 2015 is El Santuario, LeDomaine’s new spa where wedding guests can enjoy personalised wellness experiences,10,000-sq.-ft. of ultra-luxurious facilities, a ground-breaking vinotherapy concept, and the spa industry’s first “Spa Sommelier.” The ancient abbey’s former stables are being restored to create El Santuario and the new rooms, which will have direct access to the spa.
In between events, wedding guests can enjoy a wide range of unique activities and excursions on the 1,500-acre estate and in the local area. Among them are wine tastings at Abadía Retuerta and wineries in the Duero Valley, helicopter tours (which take-off from the hotel’s own helipad) and horseback riding on the banks of the Duero River.
