We asked The Good life France editor Janine Marsh to give us her three top tips to Bordeaux – one of Euro 2016’s host cities.
- Try the local sweet speciality – canelé, a seriously scrumptious cake with a rich custard centre and a caramelised shell. Patisserie Baillardran makes the most delicious version!
- Don’t miss the Grand Hotel de Bordeaux. Don’t be put off by the grandeur of this swanky looking place. There are 6 bars/restaurants and it’s great for afternoon tea or something stronger in a relaxed atmosphere – inside or out.
- Head to Le Mirroir, an incredible water sculpture, at sunset and watch the water change to the colour of the sky, it’s memorable.
