Les Castels, France’s most stylish group of glamping sites with 36 locations throughout the country, shares what’s new for 2017
New for the 2017 season, Les Castels welcomes Les Princes d’Orange in the Hautes-Alpes area of Provence, to the family. Each of the 124 pitches and 50 self-catering hires all have stunning views over Orpierre and the surrounding cliffs – perfect for rock climbing. The medieval village of Orpierre situated in the heart of the Baronnies Provençales Park and is an ideal spot for visiting Sisteron and its Citadelle; as well as the Méouge Gorges, the Serre Ponçon Lake, the Verdon Gorges, Mont Ventoux.
The site has ten brand new top quality, spacious mobile homes – ‘Comfort’ – with either two or three bedrooms and a large terrace. There are also two new ‘Toilés Nature’ homes and a bungalow on stilts with a private jacuzzi. All are very well equipped with TV, air-conditioning and internet access.
Debuting with Les Castels this season is Les Criques de Porteils in Occitanie – aesthetically designed Ecolodges. Built on stilts with magnificent views over the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, these contemporary lodges sleep six with a fully equipped kitchen.
The Domaine de Sévenier in the Ardèche has added a superb spa and fitness area. Other Les Castels with in-room wellness facilties include the Château de Lez-Eaux in Normandy, Le Ruisseau des Pyrénées just a few kilometres from Biarritz, the Château de Rochetaillée in the Ecrins National Park and La Grande Métairie in Carnac, Brittany.
The facilities and entertainment varies from site to site, no two are alike, however one thing unifies the group as a whole is the Les Castels environmental approach. As outdoor accommodation specialists they are entirely committed to sustainable development. The accommodation is blended into the landscape as far as is possible, using light, mobile installations such as tents and caravans.
