With the original hotel burning down in 1926, the French chateau style which you can see today took its place in 1928, with various additions made throughout the years.
In the thirties, the hotel was the height of sophistication and respectability with the creme of high society hammering at her doors (hotels are female, aren’t they?!). Even our own Royal family – King George VI and the late Queen Mother – visited with her daughter, Princess Margaret returning a few decades later.
Today, The Fairmont Banff Springs remains elegant and stylish, framed by a beautiful landscape and still a constant lure for visitors from all over the world. Happy Birthday Fairmont Banff Springs and many happy returns.
