We asked The Good life France editor Janine Marsh to give us her three top tips to Lyon – one of Euro 2016’s host cities.
- Ride the funicular railway from old Vieux Lyon Metro station, to the hilltop Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière which overlooks the entire city, for stunning views.
- The old town is the place to go to for a flavour of Lyon… literally. Almost every other building houses a restaurant or Bouchon, a traditional Lyonnais eatery, and the atmosphere is fun, fab and funky.
- Rue Mercier and its surroundings in the modern part of the city is brilliant for restaurants and bars.
Janine has recently written a guide to all of the UEFA 2016 host cities, with everything you need to know if you are heading to France for the football (or not) this Summer.
