There is nothing as attractive in the deep mid-winter as a joyous Christmas Market. Of course the very famous ones are in the east of France – Strasbourg and Colmar, in Germany – Cologne and in Bavaria, however you do not have to travel so far to find some lovely markets – in France, Holland and even Ireland!
There are such great deals available with the ferry companies so it would be foolish not to take advantage of the super low prices with Aferry.co.uk this December. Of course on AFerry.co.uk, all the ferry companies are present so that you can compare and book all on the one site.
Close to the Channel coast for us British visitors, the Gallic twist on the festive atmosphere can be found in several towns with markets brimming with gifts and specialities to enjoy at home. Boulogne’s takes place in the Old Town 16-20 December, on the Grande Place of Arras until 30 December, try the Big Wheel too in Rouen until 31 December or visit the heart of Amiens for the market taking place until 31 December.
One of the loveliest markets is judged to be in St Quentin, famous for its beautiful Art Deco buildings 3rd – 31st December.
Holland has some Dickensian type Victorian style markets such as in Amsterdam and surroundings where you can buy everything from Dutch food to hand-painted ornaments. Markets are on all through December. Visit the wooden chalets all stocked with lovely gifts and goodies. Ice-skating is very popular in the Netherlands so take you skates and have a slide around one if the seasonal ice rinks too.
You may not have thought about Ireland as the destination for Christmas markets but market stalls, twinkling lights, mulled wine and bratwurst can be found in the traditional markets of Waterford, Galway, Dublin, Limerick and Cork, however most still associate the Christmas Fayre with France.
Book now and enjoy some great prices and excellent special offers. These pop up all the time so check the Special Offers section when you visit www.AFerry.co.uk. Happy Christmas shopping.
