Try Barra, with prices from £45 for a family of four with a car. Ireland is an option that appeals in spring maybe Dublin for a city break – Dad will love the Guinness Brewery! Aferry with Irish Ferries has a 15% discount in place for most of the year in fact whilst P&O return prices start at £179 for a car and two passengers. Belfast is more and more popular especially with the Titanic Exhibition on display; it is fascinating and was winner of the World’s Best Attraction prize at the last World Travel Awards. Stena Line has a great offer of 15% off all ferry travel to and from Belfast – just book by the end of March 2017.
France is always a popular choice. Try St.Malo via Aferry with Brittany Ferries with its walled town centre, bustling market, super seafood and some excellent spa and thalassotherapy resorts. Le Havre is celebrating its 500th Anniversary this year so the town is gearing up for some celebratory events starting the last weekend in May. There is plenty to see already with outdoor sculptures and architectural features for which the town is known. Save something in the region of £100 with Brittany Ferries who have a Kids Travel Free offer in place – book either destination before the 18th April to qualify.
The kids love Disneyland Paris so why not mix that very new with the very old – so maybe Chantilly for the chateau and famous racecourse, or Pierrefonds where the Merlin TV mini-series was filmed or Versailles, always a spectacular sight. Travel to Calais or Dunkirk with P&O and benefit from a 20% discount as long as you book by the end of March, or otherwise with DFDS where prices start at a mere £65 return.
There are some great deals to Holland this year with all the ferry companies. P&O have fares as low as £84.50 each way to Zeebrugge or Rotterdam. Caravans go free with DFDS on various crossings until July 2017 or if you are heading for Landal Green or Centre Parc take a Stena Line crossing starting at only £49 return for a car and driver. Most companies offer popular mini cruises to Holland, Belgium and Scandinavia. There is a good rate with DFDS this year with prices for a two night mini cruise starting at £85 – a two for one offer that is too good not to take up.
