Headwater is delighted to be joining forces with Granada Television to raise money for the annual charity appeal to take place between 11th and 30th August 2003. Every penny raised during this period will go to help the North-West Air Ambulance Service.
To raise funds for this very worthy cause, the Granada Reports News Team lead by presenter Paul Crone, will be walking a 260- mile course around the region collecting money en route. Progress of the team will be shown every evening on TV between 6pm and 7pm.
On Thursday 21st August 2003 members of the Headwater sales, marketing and management teams will walk with the Granada crew on the days stage from Culcheth (near Warrington) to Helsby (Near Frodsham). All staff members will be walking to raise personal sponsorship money as well as collecting general donations from the public as they go. At the end of the day the Headwater team will be presenting their cheque for the total amount they have raised live on air, to the Granada team.
Given that Headwater is the specialist tour operator very much geared to adventure holidays, - walking, cycling, canoeing, cookery courses and single centre multi-activity holidays, there is a real link between Headwater and the Granada team effort. Headwater is therefore delighted to put their name behind the appeal.
The North West Air Ambulance Service sends fully equipped helicopters, crewed by trained paramedics to rescue injured persons from mountains, road crash sites, etc. In most cases it provides rescue where road access is difficult, dangerous or denied. Despite being a vital resource to the local population of over 700,000 people, the operation relies totally on public donations.
