Gstaad Saanenland unveils a new service at www.gstaad.ch
March 2005 * * *Discovered long ago by airlines, last-minute offers are coming to Gstaad! Gstaad Saanenland Tourism, in conjunction with local hoteliers, is the first and only region in Switzerland to post daily updated Last Minute offers on the internet. Around 25 hotels with on average 900 beds now offer reductions of up to 25 percent for bookings made at www.gstaad.ch. With prices for a single night's accommodation for one starting at 60 Swiss francs, Gstaad is certainly a destination worth clicking on to.
Booking holiday offers directly via the internet is becoming increasingly popular. This practice, used successfully by airlines for several years, is also starting to take hold for Swiss holiday resorts. Gstaad is the first region in Switzerland to offer daily updated, value-for-money hotel rooms to ordinary holidaymakers on a last-minute web platform. Reservations can be made within a 14-day period from the search date. Instead of having to trawl through the individual websites of every hotel in search of a bargain, guests will be able to find all the available special offers - covering Zweisimmen to Gsteig, and Lauenen to Gstaad - on one central website. The dream of overnight accommodation in a two-star hotel in the Bernese mountains can now become a reality from 60 Swiss francs per person, and for just under 170 Swiss francs in a five-star hotel, if the full 25 percent reduction is achieved. These offers can only be booked at www.gstaad.ch.
"Currently 25 hotels in all categories with a total of over 900 beds are participating. The last-minute reduction is calculated daily for the upcoming 14 days, based on capacity and the current level of bookings. A special 'yield management programme' was developed to provide the required information. This customer-friendly service has already enjoyed widespread popularity. Over eighty bookings have already been received via this service since its launch," affirms Roger Seifritz, Director of Gstaad Saanenland Tourism. "Together with local hoteliers, our aim is to operate an advanced cost management system - or, put differently: empty beds cost more than a bed that can be sold at reasonable cost. And guests will also travel more frequently if costs fall within their budget for that period."
Enquiries are entered quickly and conveniently based on the needs of holidaymakers. A search function is then used to list every corresponding offer and price.
A website for every taste
As part of the launch of its electronic services, Gstaad Saanenland Tourism (GST) has also restructured its website. Internet visitors will now find the latest regional news and offers on its new homepage. This dynamic page will adapt to the particular surfing behaviour of individual visitors and provide everyone with their desired information quickly. For example: if a spa enthusiast searches for suitable hotels in the Gstaad region, the website will firstly automatically display all the information pertinent to this subject, such as special offers, the latest treatments and regimes, on his or her return visit to the site. This is possible because the site stores comprehensive details and product features. It allows site visitors, depending on their needs, to reach the current snow report directly, immediately find culinary highlights, the best accommodation offers or news on the latest trends in Gstaad nightlife.
The presence of Gstaad Mountain Rides, whose marketing has also been entrusted to GST, is now integrated on the Gstaad website. Everything worth knowing about the weather and piste conditions, mountainside gastronomy and any other winter sports offers can be found here: www.gstaad-mountainrides.ch.
