From 2004 the Gstaad Menuhin Festival will work closely with the renowned London Symphony Orchestra. The cooperation is predicted to last for at least three years, and is planned to include gala concerts with star soloists and conductors.
The first concert by this famous orchestra will be held on the 6th August 2004 in the Gstaad Festival marquee, and for the 2005 and 2006 festival seasons it is planned that between two and four concerts will take place. World famous soloists and conductors such as Maxim Vengerov and Sir Colin Davies could be in line to make guest appearances in Gstaad. "Working with this leading London orchestra will set a high standard for our symphony concerts, and we are proud that this move will strengthen our close traditional ties with Great Britain", commented Christoph M�ller, Artistic Director of the Menuhin Festival. The London Symphony Orchestra has previously made a guest appearance in Gstaad.
Menuhin Festival 2003: Programme details now available The 2003 programme is now finalised. It will run from 18th July until 6th September, with 37 performances planned in five churches and in the Festival marquee. The principal theme for the coming season will be �Musical Friendships and Rivalries�. Big names such as jazz pianist Uri Caine, solo violinist Joshua Bell, virtuoso violinist Tomas Zehetmair, and Mstislaw Rostropowitsch with the Russian National Orchestra, are scheduled to appear. From 2003 the new Principal Sponsor for the Festival will be the Hongkong Shanghai Bank � HSBC.
