Brooklands Group has confirmed a March 2006 launch for the official news-stand magazine of Ricochets hit Channel 4 TV series SUPERNANNY.
A worldwide phenomenon now airing in 47 countries, including prime-time on ABC in the USA, SUPERNANNY and presenter Jo Frost offers a modern day take on Mary Poppins, bringing calm to unruly households with a mixture of firm discipline, encouragement and good humour. Helping harassed parents deal with the most extreme parenting nightmares, SUPERNANNYs traditional, no-nonsense approach soon gets the most willful and destructive of children in order.
All that expertise for mums, dads and children alike is coming soon to a newsagent near you in the form of a high quality monthly publication from Brooklands Group, publisher of SUPERNANNY Channel 4 stablemates A Place in the Sun, You Are What Eat, Location Location Location and Property Ladder. On sale for the first time on Thursday 30th March, SUPERNANNY magazine will translate the premise of the TV show into published form and offer the same level of story-telling drama, as real families are followed in documentary style through a process of transition that will truly change their lives.
Other regular features will include early days advice for pregnant mums on how to have a calm and healthy baby, a steer on education from nursery through to secondary school, expert guidance in the areas of play, food, health, fashion and holidays plus interviews with celebrity mums. Readers can also expect all kinds of help in the areas of relationships and well-being alongside pages of practical, detailed consumer help and information.
The launch issue of SUPERNANNY magazine has already secured newstrade orders of more than 200,000 copies and has substantial retail commitment from the key supermarkets and major magazine retailers. The title will be edited by Stuart Watt (ex-Mens Health, more recently A Place in the Suns everything America) with Sophie Longhurst (ex-Elle and Red) as Advertising Manager.
Says Darren Styles, Chief Executive of Brooklands Group:
SUPERNANNY is a fantastic TV series with an enormous following and its direct, no-messing approach in delivering a whole raft of positive parenting messages is just great fodder for a magazine. The very best publications are those that engage with their readership and add real value, and SUPERNANNY can do just that in providing parents with the tools and techniques to bring up pleasant, well-balanced children.
As a company weve had an incredible 12 months launching four major news-stand titles out of Channel 4 TV shows as well as debuting two hugely successful exhibitions. Weve won two major industry awards, been nominated for more and seen our turnover grow from 3.3m to nearly 15m in just two years, making us the UKs fastest-growing publisher. And this news, winning the licence for the official SUPERNANNY magazine, is the icing on the cake.
Says Nick Southgate, Creative Director, of Ricochet:
This is an important step in the global development of the SUPERNANNY brand. The SUPERNANNY magazine is an exciting opportunity to extend the core values of our successful TV format, enabling us to expand on key issues and themes and introduce SUPERNANNYs teaching techniques to a wider audience. We are delighted to confirm this exclusive deal with Brooklands Group; its proven track record in developing outstanding TV-tie in publications will ensure that the official SUPERNANNY magazine sets new standards in the parenting genre, to become the definitive guide to bringing up kids.
