The general public may not be able to take part in the UEFA EURO 2016TM football tournament but they will be able to take part in a country-wide warm-up – the UK’s first ever National Pub Quiz Challenge. Pub teams from across England and Wales will be brushing up on their general knowledge, football stats and train facts for this new event, sponsored by European rail experts – Voyages-sncf.com.
The Challenge kicks off on 10th January 2016 across the country and will run for three months. Participating pub teams throughout the land will be entered into the league and the six highest scoring teams will play each other in a Grand Final, each team bidding to become league champions. The overall winners will receive a first class trip to France for the whole team, courtesy of sponsors Voyages-sncf.com.
The network of pubs covers the whole of the UK from Bangor to Newcastle, Bristol to London. A list of the 100 or so participating pubs has been unveiled today so pub teams can register at their favourite local and go into pre-season pub quiz training for the New Year.
‘The National Pub Quiz Challenge is a first for us’, says The Weekly Quiz founder and ex-Apprentice finalist Daniel Lassman, ‘and we are (as they say in footballing parlance) ‘over the moon’ to have Voyages-sncf.com come on board as sponsors. Our two companies are both great football fans and Francophiles so to work together on this first ever national pub quiz event is a ‘match made in heaven’. With the incentives on offer, we are expecting a surge of interest for this event. Click here for a list of participating pubs. http://www.weeklyquiz.co.uk/voyagesquiz/.
