From a Place of Worship to a Place of Rest.
Mercure open a new four star Hotel in Poitiers Town Centre.
Following the 25 million Euro regeneration the town of Poitiers, Poitou-Charentes, May saw the opening of the four stars Hôtel Mercure, La Chapelle. Housed in the 1854 Jesuit chapel, designed by renowned French architect Magloire Tournesac, the hotel has taken two years to be ready for opening, due to the complex demands of the build.
The hotel has over 50 bedrooms all of which are unique, with soft light and shades which give the room’s luminosity, warmth and a distinctive refinement, some rooms also offer an unobstructed view over the town of Poitiers. Room features include, free Wi-Fi, telephone, satellite TV, minibar, and some of them with espresso machine and other welcome amities.
The restaurant is located in the nave and chancel of the former chapel. The kitchens are run, by two talented young chefs Gil Elad and Ayako Ota, who have cleverly divided the space into two distinct dining areas; the upper floor, where the pastries are made and the lower restaurant.
