15th May 2014 – Voyages-sncf.com has created a reading list of railway-themed novels for all the family to help their customers pick their holiday read while making use of The Great Summer Rail Bookings Window. The #MakingTracks reading list can be seen via Pinterest and Voyages-sncf welcome any additional suggestions for their growing list.
With no baggage restrictions, travellers can select a good old fashioned hard or paperback from the list or download many of them onto a Kindle. Titles include those by Agatha Christie, who makes an appearance twice with everybody’s favourite sleuths – Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, “The Wheel Spins” by Ethel Lina White and of course the set of seven Harry Potters by J.K. Rowling. Also making an appearance on the list is Bradshaw’s Continental Railway Guide – an Amazon bestseller that recently featured in the TV series, Great Continental Railway Journeys, presented by Michael Portillo. Classics such as Patricia Highsmith’s “Strangers on a Train” and The Lost Special by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle of Sherlock Holmes fame have also made this must read list.
Summer Bookings Window – Holidaymakers heading for France this summer can currently book their train tickets some seven weeks earlier than usual, thanks to an extension to the normal 90 day booking horizon. Booking early will ensure travellers benefit from the lowest available fares. On 6th ay 2014, tickets will become available for travel from 25th – 31st August 2014, opening up the remainder of the peak summer holiday travel period.
Example Fares – With fares from Paris to destinations including Avignon, Turin and Zurich starting at £44 return for early bookers, the lowest cost fares are expected to sell out quickly. Anyone hoping to take advantage of this offer should book early in the day to avoid disappointment.
Eurostar services are available to book up to six months in advance, meaning that anyone wishing to travel over the summer will be able to book their Eurostar and French journey together. The booking extension applies to all French domestic services as well as international cross border services including those from France into Italy, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
Reservations and information – To book or for more information, visit www.voyages-sncf.com, call 0844 848 5848 or call into the Voyages-sncf Travel Centre at 193 Piccadilly, London, W1J 9EU.
