Castres Christmas Market 2012
8th – 25th December
There are Christmas markets and then there is Castres Christmas Market in the Tarn! The fair has only been going since 2005, when the main town square, named after the town’s greatest son, Jean-Jaures, was renovated.
What makes the market so unique is its sheer size – over 5,000 square metres – and the very artisanal feel to what is on sale in the various booths. The market takes place this year 8th – 25th December and will include:
- Ice-skating on the Quai des Jacobins – all completely free
- The Magic Forest – over 500 pines will be on show and little ‘gourmandises’ hidden amongst the trees
- 35 different chalets selling everything from wooden toys to jewellery, leather goods to table decorations and presents to suit all budgets
- The Village Gourmand – there will be tastings and where you can buy delicious treats for the festive period such as hot chocolate, ‘vin chaud’, oysters, chestnuts, pastries, home-made soups, pancakes, ‘raclette’, candy floss and much more, whilst enjoying some of the live – and free entertainment
