Vienna is celebrating its 150th birthday in 2015 with numerous events and exhibitions. The most beautiful boulevard in the world not only has a wealth of sights, it also has large parks, important monuments and much more. 19th – 25th January: 83rd MONTE-CARLO RALLY – Monaco – Client: Côte d’Azur Sporting event organised by the Automobile Club de Monaco. Start and finish in the Principality of Monaco. 15th – 25th January: 39th INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL – Monaco – Client: Côte d’Azur The greatest circus festival in the world. Created by HSH Prince Rainier III, the festival showcases prestigious acts by the world’s great circuses. Highlight is the awarding of the “Clown d’Or” prize considered to be the supreme distinction by all artistes in this discipline.
February 20158th February – 28th June: PAUL GAUGUIN EXHIBIT – Basel – Client: Basel Tourism Major art exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler, Basel. 13th February – 1st March: NICE CARNIVAL – Nice – Client: Côte d’Azur Three weeks of lively festivities in the city: carnival processions with giant heads, elegant flower battles, prestigious soirées, spectacles & fireworks. DTBA: GRAND CARNIVAL – Albi – Client: Midi-Pyrénées Only a few years younger than that of Nice, the floats are now mechanised and gigantesque! Between ten and twenty floats participate every year.

Approximately 300 leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa show the work of more than 4,000 artists, ranging from the great masters of modern art to the latest generation of emerging stars. 18th – 21st June: BICENTENARY OF THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO – France/Belgium – Client: Côte d’Azur To commemorate the bicentenary of this Battle that left Europe stunned and that was instrumental in determining the future of the French regions, the ASBL ‘Bataille de Waterloo 1815’ is planning the most impressive reconstructions ever seen in Europe: 5000 re-enactors, 300 horses and 100 canons.
July 201514th – 15th July (TBC): MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL OF THE GRAND FAUCONNIER – Cordes-sur-Ciel, The Tarn – Client: Midi-Pyrénées To celebrate the birthday of this village in the clouds, all the inhabitants dress up in medieval clothing, there’s street theatre, medieval crafts, jousting, jugglers, fire walkers, birds of prey etc. Visitors are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun! 17th – 25th July: 10th BASEL TATTOO – Basel – Client: Basel Tourism The world’s second largest and one of the most spectacular open-air tattoos. 28th July – 2nd August: EQUESTRIA – Tarbes – Client: Midi-Pyrénées One of the largest equestrian festivals in Europe. There are more than 300 horses and 50 artistic and equestrian participants. In July and August Larzac plays host to historical reconstructions for all to enter into the spirit of the Middle Ages when the five sites of the Knights Templar were constructed such as La Couvertoirade which is now one of the Grands Sites de Midi-Pyrénées. Cars and motorcycles, mainly “made in USA”, are on show, shining brightly under our astonished eyes. October 201524th October – 10th November: AUTUMN FAIR – Basel – Client: Basel Tourism The Basler Herbstmesse is more than your average funfair. This traditional event can look back over more than 500 years of history and still enjoys immense popularity. This huge fair is spread over seven of the city’s plazas and also in the trade fair centre, giving the impression that it stretches over the entire city centre. This autumn highlight lasts two weeks and always ends on the third Sunday evening. 25th October – January 2016: Agincourt 600 – Royal Armouries Agincourt exhibition – Client: London Bridge Hotel A special Agincourt exhibition. Royal Armouries. White Tower, Tower of London. This will include a specially constructed model of the battle as well as weapons, armour, manuscripts and other artefacts of the period. DTBA – mid October – mid November: LES CASTAGNADES D’ARDECHE – Information given to Magellan by the Rhône-Alpes Tourism Held from mid October to mid November in every town and village throughout the Ardèche, this is a comprehensive celebration of the chestnut and its many guises: chestnut puree, chestnut ice cream, chestnut soup… All the restaurants have their own recipe.
November 20151st November – 11 January: MODERN TIMES EXHIBITION, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam – Information given to Magellan via Netherlands Boad of Tourism The new Philips Wing opens with a showcase of the Rijksmuseum’s photography collection. Modern Times. Photography in the 20th Century is the Rijksmuseum’s first ever photography exhibition to highlight the outstanding collection of 20,000 20th-century works that it has amassed since deciding in 1994 to extend its photographic holdings beyond the 19th century. 28th November – 23rd December: BASEL CHRISTMAS MARKET – Basel – Client: Basel Tourism The Basel Christmas market at Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz is considered to be one of the prettiest and largest in Switzerland and one of the most popular in Europe. During the run-up to Christmas, many events and spectacular special exhibitions in the city’s museums further enrich its cultural scene.
December 20159th – 12th December: CHRISTMAS TATTOO – Basel – Client: Basel Tourism The Christmas Tattoo has become a firm fixture of Basel’s event calendar. It’s therefore all the more pleasing that its fans can also now enjoy bagpipes and kilts during Advent for the second time. Come and see around 900 artists in repertory orchestras and dance troupes performing world famous Christmas songs. DTBA: December: LA VALLÉE DES SANTONS(VALLEY OF THE NATIVITY SCENE FIGURINES) – Roya Bévéra – Client: Côte d’Azur Giant open air nativity scene. Trail takes visitors past over 300 nativity scenes of all origins displayed in various parts of the villages of Breil, Fontan, Saorge, La Brigue and Tende in a decor of Christmas trees and holly. DTBA: December: LE CIRCUIT DES CRÈCHES DE LUCERAM – Lucéram – Client: Côte d’Azur For 10 years, over 400 Christmas nativities have been exhibited in the streets and basements of the medieval city as well as in churches, chapels, museums and picturesque places in the surrounding areas. A circuit marked with arrows enables you to discover unusual, original and authentic nativity scenes.
