PETER MACCANN
GENERAL MANAGER
Peter MacCann is the General Manager of Dublin's most stylish 5-Star
hotel, The Merrion, which opened in October 1997. MacCann joined The
Merrion from the Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare (a member of the prestigious
Relais et Châteaux group), where he was General Manager. Prior to that he
was with the Conrad International Hotel, Dublin.
Born in Dublin, Peter MacCann was educated at Clongowes Wood College,
County Kildare. He trained in Ireland, and started his career in England
with Forte hotels.
"To be involved in the opening of a 5-star luxury hotel in Dublin
was an irresistible opportunity," says MacCann. "The Merrion has
the winning combination of a remarkable building, first-class facilities
and the latest technology. This means we can confidently offer our guests
international levels of service and exceed their expectations."
In his spare time, Peter MacCann, who is married with two sons, enjoys
golf, fine wine, and is a member of The Académie de Champagne. He serves
on the Council of the Irish Hotel & Catering Institute.
The Merrion is set within four magnificent Georgian townhouses and a
specially commissioned contemporary Garden Wing, built around two private
landscaped 18th century gardens. All four houses have been granted a List
I preservation order.
The hotel comprises 125 rooms and 20 suites, subtly designed using
Georgian colours, Irish fabrics and antiques, to reflect the architecture
and original interiors. Throughout the hotel, guests benefit from the
latest technology. There is a choice of two restaurants and two bars. A
luxurious Spa and swimming pool, a private car park, and six conference
rooms complete The Merrion's impressive list of facilities.
The Merrion is an independently managed and marketed hotel, with a
joint ownership of private investors. The Chairman of the Board of The
Merrion's development company, Landmark Investments, is Mr. Lochlann
Quinn.
